چکیده

the Port of Bombay then having been found useful was extended and is being continued with very gratifying results in as much as the percentage of breeding found up to 15th April, 1935, amounting to 51 per cent, has steadily diminished to close on 30 per cent after a year's working as can be seen from the following figures of monthly examinations up to the end of February 1936. They also show relative percentage of ' emptying out' as steadily rising with diminishing returns for refused examinations and refused emptying outs as 0.42 per cent and 0.8 per cent _ respectively. This has been achieved by simple persuasive methods and I am glad to let you know that the Government of Bombay are considering with the local authority (Port Trust) an enactment of a draft rule to legalize the procedure. I have to thank Drs. Maplestone and Strickland f? giving me useful hints and help in this connection ever since I started the work. Yours, etc., F. D. BANA, m.b., m.r.c.s., d.p.S' D.T.M. & H., J.P. Stochastic Population Methods in Analysis of Epidemics

Epidemics of infective diseases can be naturally regarded as a parade problem in population dynamics. Understanding the time–evolution and fundamental interactions of different subpopulations (infected, immune, carriers, etc.) is a key instrument to devise sustainable and effective treatments, as far as this is possible. In this application we will focus on vector diseases, i.e., infections (fr...

Filarial Disease

collected from infected houses in Georgetown, British Guiana, to the number of 1,500. Of these, 237 were Stegomyia fasciata, 105 Cellia argyrostris and 1,131 Culex fatigans. Only one Stegomyia was infected, while 7.4 per cent, of all Culex fatigans were found to be infected. No other mosquito was infected, so that it appears that Culex fatigans is the only carrier of Filaria bancrofti of import...

Entomologic surveys in 2000 demonstrated that it is widespread in southern Cameroon, colonizing a wide variety of breeding sites and biting humans in every district surveyed. The presence of this vector increases the risk for emergence of dengue in Cameroon.
